Surface engineering, as an emerging interdisciplinary field, boasts broad applications across various domains. Through surface redesign and manufacturing, materials can be endowed with special properties such as functionalization, strengthening, protection, and decoration. In recent years, with deepening international cooperation, academic exchanges in surface engineering have flourished. Building on the success of the previous nine international conferences, the Surface Engineering Institution of CMES has decided to hold the 10thInternational Conference on Surface Engineering (ICSE 2026) in Yangzhou to further enhance international collaboration.
After consultation between CMES and the hosting institutions (Yangzhou University and China University of Mining and Technology), 10th International Conference on Surface Engineering (ICSE 2026) will be held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province from October 16-18, 2026.
Yangzhou University (YZU), a provincial key comprehensive university jointly established by Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education, was founded in 1902. It ranks among China's top universities with three disciplines (Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Plant and Animal Science) in the global top 1‰ ESI rankings and 18 disciplines in the top 1%. The host city Yangzhou, situated at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal, is a nationally renowned historical and cultural city offering rich cultural experiences.
China University of Mining and Technology(CUMT), another co-host institution based in Xuzhou, traces its roots to 1909. As a national key university under the Ministry of Education, it has been included in China's "211 Project", "985 Innovation Platform", and "Double First-Class" initiatives.
The Surface Engineering Institution of CMES, the organizing body, is China's authoritative academic organization in this field, having successfully hosted 15th national conferences and 9th international conferences. Its growing influence has attracted increasing international attention.
This conference will address global hotspots including environmental protection, green manufacturing, new energy materials, advanced equipment manufacturing, and carbon neutrality, promoting international collaboration in surface engineering and intelligent manufacturing. It will provide a platform for experts to share cutting-edge research and showcase China's latest advancements, accelerating the field's development.
