Abstract
Superhydrophobic surfaces is considered to have significant application value in anti-icing and de-icing. However, traditional superhydrophobic surfaces have excellent anti-icing performance under static conditions, but still face certain difficulties in actual flight conditions such as high-speed subcooled inflow, mainly because the object of icing changes from static water to subcooled air flow. For this reason, we have conducted systematic research on bionic microstructure design and manufacturing as well as anti-icing and de-icing performance. In 2024, the team proposed a non-energy strategy that utilizes the inherent wind field during flight to assist in enhancing anti-icing performance. By designing a microstructure array with both aerodynamic drag reduction and superhydrophobic properties to control the near-wall airflow movement, While reducing the probability of contact between the incoming cold droplets and the surface, it delays the droplet freezing and nucleation process, thereby generating excellent anti-freezing performance. In 2026, the team further proposed a strategy of inducing the spontaneous formation of interfacial frost and ice under incoming flow conditions by using non-wetting microstructures. Without introducing additional energy consumption, it transformed the solid-liquid-ice contact into direct solid-ice contact, significantly reducing the energy consumption for thermal deicing by approximately 56%. The above-mentioned work systematically developed the theory and technical path of bionic microstructure anti-icing and de-icing for supercooled flow environments from two dimensions: "passive delay of icing" and "active regulation of ice type to promote ice melting", providing an important reference for the design of high-performance anti-icing and de-icing surfaces.
